The seven-time champions also secured a place at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia.

Two players from the team, Solomon Agbalaka and Augustine Njoku were selected in the tournament’s best X1.

The Flying Eagles also claimed the Fair Play award.

The team is expected to take a break before resuming preparations for the World Cup which will start in May.

 

Sports Minister Commends Flying Eagles

The Sports Minister, Sunday Dare has commended the Flying Eagles for their performance in Egypt.

He admonished the team to learn from the mistakes they made in Egypt.

“bronze medal as better than nothing, charged the team to imbibe the lessons learned at the tournament as they prepare for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.

“We were disappointed we couldn’t play in the final or win this competition as we planned to but this convincing victory over Tunisia has redeemed the pain we felt last Monday after the Gambia game,” he said.

Solomon Agbalaka and Augustine Njoku made it into the tournament’s best XI, as Flying Eagles also claimed the Fair Play award.
