Celta Vigo have announced that they have parted ways with their manager Rafa Benitez after less than a season in charge, with the former Liverpool boss ‘failing to achieve the club’s expectations.’

The embattled Spaniard, who joined the LaLiga club in July 2023, had refused to quit his role as the Celta boss, following a poor run of form.

The 63-year-old had been out of work for over a year after he was allowed to leave by Everton in 2022 but stepped back into management to take charge of 33 games at Celta Vigo.
