The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has suspended centre referee Abdul Malik from officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

Malik incurred the wrath of the committee following his poor handling of the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 27 encounter between Katsina United and Abia Warriors. The referee cancelled a legitimate goal scored by Abia Warriors’ Samson Obi in the game.

Abia Warriors eventually lost the game 2-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. The NFF has clamped down on poor officiating in the NPFL this season, sanctioning erring match officials.
