Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; and a senator-elect of Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for carrying out a seamless process during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state.

Bankole, who voted at Polling Unit 6, Ward 10, Egungbohun, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state, said the exercise was a lot better than the last election.

He said, “The BVAS machine is working well today because a couple of weeks ago this particular polling unit was cancelled because the BVAS machine wasn’t working well.

“We are happy that they brought more machines today and we are voting peacefully and the turnout is very high.

“Here, it is immediate accreditation and immediate voting, very orderly, very peaceful.

“There is a policewoman here and we don’t need any extra security personnel because it is very peaceful here, we are fine.”

Amosun who arrived at his unit at 10.42am alongside his wife, Olufunso, and one of his daughters, Anjola, voted at exactly 10.48 am.

Speaking after he cast his vote, Amosun eulogised INEC over the exercise

He said, “I think it is slightly better and more organised. When I came the last time, the atmosphere was not conducive, I had to find a way to make it conducive. But now, the BVAS is working. The last time I came, I had to wait for about two hours.”

Adeola who spoke shortly after casting his vote at his Polling Unit 009, UAMC Eleja Primary School, Pahayi, Ilaro, Yewa South LGA of the state, described the voting process as a tremendous improvement from the presidential election.

He said, “Comparing it with what happened two weeks ago, we can see that there are tremendous improvements.

“The machines are working perfectly and people were able to vote within the shortest possible time.

“The process has been flawless and we can only continue to improve and improve in the future.”
