Natives of troubled Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have tackled former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Yerima, for advising the Federal Government to consider granting amnesty to bandits terrorising states in North-West zone.
The natives, under the aegis of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives’ Union, called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore the call by the ex-governor and rather seek international cooperation in addressing insecurity in Nigeria.
The Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives’ Union, in a statement on Tuesday by its chairman, Ishaq Kasai, opposed Ahmed Yerima’s proposition, saying negotiating with bandits would amount to granting legitimacy to criminal elements in the country.
