The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, praised his players for securing a spot in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, following their 4-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa.
The match, held at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, saw William Troost-Ekong scoring for Nigeria from the spot in the 67th minute, with South Africa equalizing through Teboho Mokoena three minutes from time.
Peseiro acknowledged the strength of the South African team, stating that they posed significant challenges for Nigeria.
Despite the tough match, the Super Eagles emerged victorious and are set to face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.
