The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has constantly produced amazing movies that rank among the highest grossing in its history.

These movies tell captivating stories that combine modern technology, and cultural diversity.

Three of these movies, directed by Funke Akindele, the Lagos PDP 2023 deputy governorship candidate and acclaimed Nollywood actress, have the highest-grossing Nigerian movies.

A Tribe Called Judah achieved a record-breaking box office of ₦1.4 billion, making it the most successful film in Nollywood history. This film was directed by Funke Akindele and Adeoluwa Owu.

The touching and funny story of Battle on Buka Street film was also directed by Funke Akindele and produced by the Funke Ayotunde Akindele Network in collaboration with FilmOne, making a staggering ₦668 million at the Nigerian box office.

Directed by Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz, Omo Ghetto: ‘The Saga’ is one of the few Nigerian movies with a staggering grossing rate. Omo Ghetto broke box office records with an incredible ₦636 million.

The Wedding Party (2016)

The Wedding Party is a romantic comedy, which was directed by Kemi Adetiba and produced by a joint venture of Ebonylife Films, FilmOne, Inkblot Production, and Koga Studios. The Wedding Party made an astounding ₦452,288,605 at the box office, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing Nigerian film ever.

The Wedding Party 2 (2017)

The Wedding Party 2 secured its place as one of Nollywood’s highest-grossing movies by leveraging on the success of part one. The Wedding Party 2 was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced by Ebonylife Films, FilmOne, Inkblot Productions, and Koga Studios and got a total box office receipt of ₦433,197,377.

Chief Daddy (2018)

Chief Daddy, an EbonyLife Films-produced family comedy directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, raked in a remarkable ₦387 million at the box office.

Queen Lateefah (2024)

The fascinating family drama Queen Lateefah, which was produced by Captain of the Sea Productions, WumiToriola Productions, and directed by Adeoluwa Owu, made waves at the Nigerian movie office, making it one of the highest grossing movies, earning ₦351 million.

Brotherhood (2022)

Brotherhood was produced by Greoh Studios and directed by the talented Loukman Ali. The movie got an astounding ₦328 million at the box office.

King of Thieves (2022)

King of Thieves, an exciting Yoruba epic combining culture and cinematic brilliance, earned an extraordinary ₦320.8 million at the box office. The film was co-directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani and was produced by Euphoria360 Media and Anthill Studios.

Malaika (2023)

The Toyin Abraham Films Production-produced and Steve Sodiya-directed film Malaika (2023) earned a record ₦302.1 million at the Nigerian movie office, making it one of Nigerian movies with the highest grossing revenue.
