The Coalition of Southeast Youth Leaders has called on governors in the region to install Closed-Circuit Television, CCTV cameras in strategic places to curb criminal activities.
The coalition stated this in a statement issued on Monday by its President General, Goodluck Ibem. According to Ibem, the cameras will assist security agencies to track criminal elements causing chaos in the region.
He noted that the assailants who killed about five soldiers after attacking a military checkpoint in Aba, Abia State last week, would have been easily traced and apprehended if there were CCTV cameras. He lamented that some security agents have been engaging in random arrest, regarding the unfortunate murder of the five soldiers.
