Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has enjoined Muslim faithful across Nigeria to pray for the liberation of the country amidst economic hardship.

Obi, in a goodwill message Monday, stated that this year’s celebration comes at a time when many of our fellow citizens are enduring severe hardships.

He said, across the country, millions are grappling with the pain of economic challenges, lack of access to basic healthcare, and the distressing reality of countless children being out of school. These challenges weigh heavily on our collective conscience, reminding us of the work that remains to be done to uplift our people.

The statement further reads, “The teachings of the Prophet—centered on love, compassion, and kindness—offer us the hope and guidance we need in these difficult times.

“His message calls us to be our brother’s keeper, to show empathy to those in need, and to work together in the spirit of unity. It is through this lens that we must address the inequalities that persist in our society, ensuring that no child is left without an education and no family suffers without access to healthcare.

“Let us use this occasion to reflect deeply on the values that bind us and renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where every individual, regardless of background or belief, has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can overcome these trying times and create a more just, equitable, and prosperous nation for all.

“Eid al-Maulud Mubarak! Wishing Muslim families peace, joy, and prosperity. May your prayers bring lasting peace and security to our nation.”

In his message, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State enjoined Muslim faithful to use the celebration to pray for the sustained peace, unity and collective progress of the state.

“I implore the people of this state to keep faith with the ongoing reforms of the Federal Government aimed at improving the economy of the Nation.

“Our administration’s determination will continue to implement policies and programmes that will make positive impacts on the lives of the people of Ondo State,” he said.

On his part, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State the Eid-el-Maulud should remind all Nigerians of the values of love, compassion and tolerance which are essential for harmonious living in a diverse country.

He expressed hope that the celebration would inspire all Ogun residents to embrace the principles of peace and understanding, fostering a culture of respect among various religious groups in the state.

Abiodun emphasised that the strength of Ogun lies in its diversity, urging residents to come together to promote a peaceful co-existence that transcended religious boundaries.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, let us reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, which emphasise kindness, charity and respect for one another.

“It is imperative that we continue to build bridges of understanding and friendship among our different faiths, ensuring that Ogun  remains a beacon of peace and unity,” the governor stated.

He also called on all religious leaders to play a vital role in promoting peaceful dialogue and understanding within their communities.

Abiodun noted that the teachings of love and tolerance should guide the actions of all residents, contributing to a more harmonious society.

The governor also urged the Muslim faithful to continue praying for the success of his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. ”(This is because) concerted efforts are being made to make Nigeria a better place for all,” he said
